Blast from the Past

Here's a photo that showed up "over the transom" as they used to say in newsrooms. (I don't know if they still say that....or even if anyone even remembers what a "transom" was.)

It's our own Warren Sparrow from 1960 when he was promoted from ensign to LTJG aboard the USS Wasp.

(Belated "congratulations" Warren! Keep watching your mailbox, you may be called back. -Ed)

Lewis Robinson Passes

Jerry Gaudet reported on May 31 that Lewis Robinson had passed away:

Willis Rimmer called to say that Lewis Robinson was found dead in his apartment on Wednesday morning by a maintenance man for his apartment complex. Apparently, newspapers had accumulated for several days. Willis understands that Lewis's brother-in-law got no answer when he tried to telephone on Sunday to invite Lewis over for a Memorial Day cookout. Lewis's body was being cremated today and there may be a memorial service later. We'll share word of the service if received.
Lewis lived by himself in Greenville, SC, and had two sisters and brothers-in-law and one daughter.
