On the Road Again

I got a Christmas note from Jennie Margaret(Meador)and Bill Forehand and (surprise, surprise) their globe trotting ways didn't slow down one bit during the past year. In fact, this past year's itinerary my head spin! Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Pudong, Sushou, Yi Chang.....five nights on a Yangtze River Cruise etc, etc.

In addition to all the great experiences, Jennie was also able to do a little business with the Chinese on behalf of her county (Montgomery) in Maryland. Senator Jennie was there to help develop a "sister/county" relationship with the technology center of China.

Another one of their trips, a bit less spectacular, was attending a three day conference in Lancaster, PA, about the Lewis & Clark expedition.

If Lancaster ever decides to modernize the conference, they might well consider naming it the "Jennie and Bill expedition."

Heck, this website wasn't even having a "Proud Grandmama and Grandaddy Great Photo" contest, and already we have a couple of winners:

The names of these "future Wildcats" are being withheld....pending an investigation by the CHS54 staff of lawyers to determine if these photos are authentic. We suspect that they may have been produced by some Hollywood Movie Studio looking for free publicity for a few of their new stars.

Stay tuned.

Oh, one more thing,

if you know anyone from the CHS class of 1949, there is a Snips and Cuts book available for that year for sale on eBay.

The ad says it once belonged to Sandra Henry.

The listed price is $45.

Herb Jacobowitz Recovering

Herb Jacobowitz's wife Barbara informed us that Herb

"... had a mild stroke last Saturday. He had minimal affect from it, mostly just his right leg feeling heavy. He came home on Tuesday and is walking around. He's getting physical therapy for the leg and will get some occupational therapy for his left hand, which is a little weaker than his right. He's in great spirits and is expected to make an almost complete, if not total, recovery.

He's used to working out three times a week and being a "perpetual teenage boy", so this is requiring some adjustment on his part, at least for the short term"

As you folks remember, Herb was our token Yankee at CHS. But we sons and daughters of the South grew very fond of Herb and his strange way of talking. However, we all hated being in any of his classes that graded on the curve.

That stands for "Let's Do Lunch."

It's now more than just an expression among our 54 Wildcats. (By the way, don't call me a "senior" unless you're talking about my final year at Central!)

It's now a monthly EVENT!

For the third straight month, JIMMIE'S of Mint Hill came alive with the magical sounds of old friends from a very special time and place, meeting, greeting and eating! (Sometimes, even I, get chills down my spine reading my unparelled prose!)

Our Ace reporter Jerry Gaudet adds:

"We enjoyed December's CHS'54 "Let's Do Lunch", but missed many of you. Perhaps you'll join us at upcoming lunches...the second Tuesday of each month.

Attending were:

Good as New!

Mitzi Minor Roper reports that Shirley McClannahan Maynor is recovering nicely from a hip replacement operation. By the time you read this, Shirley has probably already started walking.....again. Although slowly.

I understand that she will be staying in the hospital a few more days, then off to Rehab!

For those of us who don't reside in Charlotte, the next time we see Shirley will be at our 55th reunion this May..........where, I'm sure, she'll be "dancing til dawn!"
