Our talented 92 year old CHS teacher, Mr. Gil Ballance's first book signing was a huge success. Reports from the scene indicate that the entire meeting room at Wilora Lake Lodge was packed....and the overflow crowd extended out into the hall!Quite an achievment for a first time author. A lot of ex CHS students of Mr. Ballance were present, but there were others who were simply admirers of the author who wrote so movingly of the young unwed mother's struggles in the rural backwoods of North Carolina in the early 1900's.
