Doy Lim AKA Arthur Lin 1954 |
The amazing Tom Harvey, super sleuth and friend of CHS54 found him.
Obie sent him a very nice "welcome back" letter plus a copy of our 50th Anniversary Bio Book and the DVD that we featured at our 55th Reunion.
Obie said that he learned from Doy's Bio Sheet that he retired from the Air Force as a Senior NCO, served in Vietnam and received the Bronze Star medal. No surprise but his specialty was electronics and computer science.
He lives in N. Highlands, California with his wife of 48 years, Beatriz.
Here is the letter he sent back:
Dear Osborne,
I received the package and am really enjoying it, especially the DVD. I want to say thank you for taking the time to send it to me.
I left Charlotte in 1955 and after basic training and technical training, visited as often as possible until I shipped out to Ladd AFB, Fairbanks, Alaska. So, I haven’t been back since 1957.
When I see recent pictures of the city, I am amazed and don’t recognize anything. My memories of youth are still hazy but I do remember Piedmont and Central.
I filled out the “bio” and am returning it with this letter.
I am well, in good health so far and hoping for more years.
Sincerely yours,
Arthur Lin (aka Doy Lim)
Doy, the fact that we all looked so long and hard to "find" you says volumes about how much your old classmates thought about you. Personally, you and I go all the way back to the Charlotte Boys Choir! Let's stay in touch.
